The Wall, UN Refugee Center and Tent of Nations

The Separation Wall
impacting two families 24/7
We visited the homes and gifts shops of Claire & Johnny Anastas and George & Arlette Anastas now surrounded by the separation wall which is 25 feet high.  They have a small guest house for those brave visitors who would like to support their quest for peace & freedom.  In the absence of visitors, they are  harassed by the Israeli military who sight them with their rifles so they see the red laser marking them as targets, and experience emotional terror.

The community has one school for the boys & one for the girls, & one health clinic.

This young man's photo posted in his memory.
He was killed on January 28, 2013 by Israeli military
when he was passing through a check point
in Bethlehem.  Our guide said there was a peaceful
demonstration when he was shot.

Our host served coffee and then shared about his life.  This link is to a video uploaded on You Tube (it will open in a new window)

  2. The ELCA Peace Not Walls website posted some great videos produced by the Oregon Synod about the Israel/Palestine conflict. The one entitled "Love your enemies" features an interview with Daoud Nassar. The link is http://vimeo.com/58098796

Tent of Nations also announced the dates of its Children Summer Camp June 24-July 7 on its website.

  3. Earlier Randall Kline, SFJazz's founder and executive artistic director, recalled talks a decade ago with the city's symphony and opera about a shared site. Spurred on by an anonymous $20 million donation, the organization's board pursued a dedicated home. המרכז הארצי
